Botox injections (botulinum toxin) are used to paralyze muscle activity, and with these cosmetic procedures your appearance will be significantly improved.

Botulinum toxin injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, signals that cause muscles to contract. With the help of botox injections the facial muscles that causes wrinkles will temporarily relax.

The procedure

Botox must be used only under a doctors care. It can be dangerous if its administered incorrectly. You shall inform your doctor if you have received any type of botolinum toxin injections within the past four months. Your doctor also needs to know if you take blood thinners, muscle relaxants, allergy medications or sleeping aids.

Your doctor uses a thin needle to inject tiny amounts of botulinum toxin into your skin or muscles. There is no need be numb your skin beforehand. The number of injections needed depends on many factors, mostly on the extent of the area being treated. After the procedure you can expect to resume your normal daily activities right after the procedure. Take care, though, not to make activities that can cause the toxin to migrate to a different area.

After the treatment

  • do not lie down or bend down for 5 hours
  • do not rub or massage at the reated area for 48 hours
  • do not have nyirokmasszázs for 2 days
  • do not have cosmetical treatment for 2 days
  • do not use infra-sauna, solarium for 48 hours


Botox injections are relatively safe when performed by an experienced doctor.

The most common side effects are:

  • swelling
  • bruising at the injection site
  • headache
  • or flu-like symptoms

In case you take blood thinners, you may stop these medications for several days before your injection on order to reduce your risk of bleeding or bruising.

In case the medication spread into adjacent tissues, it can cause problems such as:

  • eyelid droop
  • crooked smile
  • cockeyed eyebrows
  • dry eye or excessive tearing


  • while pregnant
  • during breast-feeding
  • inflammation in the face area to be treated
  • in case of neurologic problems/diseases
  • allergic to botox or any other components
  • under age 18 or after age 65
